Our Mission, Vision & Values
Our Mission
To promote sustainable peace, mental wellness, and social cohesion through innovative community-based interventions, youth empowerment programs, and collaborative partnerships that address the root causes of conflict and trauma in Kenyan communities.
Our Vision
A peaceful, mentally healthy, and socially cohesive Kenya where every individual and community has the tools, resources, and opportunities to thrive, contribute to national development, and live in harmony with others.
Our Approach
We employ evidence-based, culturally sensitive interventions that combine traditional wisdom with modern best practices. Our integrated approach addresses mental health, peacebuilding, and social development simultaneously for maximum impact.
Our Story
Founded in response to the growing need for sustainable peacebuilding solutions in Kenya, Peace Work Kenya emerged from the recognition that lasting peace requires more than just conflict resolution—it demands comprehensive healing, empowerment, and social transformation.
Our journey began with grassroots community work in conflict-affected areas, where we witnessed firsthand the interconnected nature of trauma, social divisions, and limited opportunities for youth. This experience shaped our integrated approach to peacebuilding.
"Peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, mental wellness, and opportunities for all. Our work is about creating the conditions where peace can flourish naturally."— George Ofunja, Director, Peace Work Kenya
Today, we operate across all 47 counties of Kenya, with partnerships extending across Africa and globally. Our programs have evolved to incorporate cutting-edge technology, innovative methodologies, and evidence-based practices while maintaining our commitment to community-led solutions and cultural sensitivity.
